The General Election of 1868 was a watershed,, marking the beginning of an active and significant Welsh impact on British politics, coinciding with the rivalry between William Gladstone and Benjamin Disraeli. The emergence of industrial and urban Wales was dominated by Nonconformist Liberalism. A seminal period in the history of modern Wales.
