The Fall of the Bastille 14 July 1789

The French Revolution of 1789 was the mother of all modern revolutions. The aim of this course of study is to explore the Revolution; why it happened, what happened, and what changed and what was the permanent significance of this change. The ideals of the revolution – liberty, equality, fraternity- are just as pertinent today as they were in 1789, indeed the history of the modern world cannot be understood without giving serious attention to this momentous period in French and European history.
