After ending the conflict with the Hittites in his Year 21, Ramesses II turned his sights inwards and his very long reign led Egypt into what was perhaps its greatest golden age. Looking at festivals and monuments, tombs, temples and inscriptions, we will explore the heyday of the 19th Dynasty and the lasting legacy of ‘Ozymandias, King of Kings’ – not without pausing to explore the intricacies of the internal politics of his very large family.
