One of the longest-lived and most successful ancient civilisations, Ancient Egypt has captivated our collective imagination for a long time. To this day, the land of the Pharaohs is regarded as an archaeologist’s paradise, its sites still revealing a wealth of amazing discoveries. In this course, we will explore the most iconic archaeological sites across Egypt, covering a time period spanning from the Predynastic beginnings to the late Roman era. We will look at monuments, objects, funerary sites, and buildings to paint a picture of the complexity and sophistication of Ancient Egyptian culture through the centuries. Looking at the likes of the Pyramids of Giza, the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, the temples at Luxor, and much more, the course is an excellent introduction for those who want to take a first look at Egyptology as well as a way for those familiar with the subject to learn more about some of Egypt’s treasures.
