George IV’s reign was,  in many ways, paradoxical: flourishing arts, breath-taking buildings and vibrant culture whilst scandal and extravagance abounded. George was dissolute in his lifestyle and had poor relations with his parents and wife. He brought the monarchy into disrepute and was generally disliked by his people.
