One of the most interesting sites in Lower Egypt to receive archaeological attention in recent years, Bubastis was originally known for its association with the cult of Bastet, the cat goddess. Later it was tied to the fortunes of the 22nd Dynasty and saw a revival as an important Ptolemaic centre. This course will look at the history and archaeology of this centre, sometimes less-frequented, but just as rich in culture and discovery as its more famous counterparts.
