After the Persians were defeated by the Greeks in 480/479BCE and the assassination and death of Xerxes in 465BCE, was this the end of the Persian Empire. Persia has another 130 years of kings and there is much intrigue and the Greeks are still involved. A battle for the throne is seen through the eyes of the Greek writer Xenophon who was perhaps the most famous student of Socrates the Philosopher. Persia’s conqueror in 336BCE , Alexander, is eventually ‘conquered’ by Persian culture.
