What impact did the Romans have on Celtic society as they began to consolidate their gains in the new province of Britannia in the first century CE? The Romans brought many things with them with the process of Romanisation however Celtic society was already sophisticated and proved to be a worthy enemy. However, with successive governors and the Roman war machine, geographical Britain was conquered although not completely. We must not assume that the Romans were homogenous as the military army and the army of administrators were multi-cultural. The development of Romano-British society is a mixture of assimilation and acculturation as life in the province settles down.
