DR LIZ WALDER

Architectural Historian and Entrepreneur

Dr Liz Walder, Architectural Historian and entrepreneur
Liz Walder MA PhD FRSA MCIPR is currently a Visiting Lecturer in the School of Architecture, Built
and Natural Environments at University of Wales Trinity St David. Her PhD, on the subject of the
Royal Gold Medal of the RIBA, was awarded from the School of Architecture at the University of
Liverpool in 2012, and was published by Wordcatcher Publications in 2019.
Liz’s work on the Women Architects of Wales (from the 1960s onwards) will be included in the
Bloomsbury Global Encyclopedia of Women in Architecture, 1960 – 2015, forthcoming in 2023, as a
2-volume (hard copy) and digital work.
Liz’s hobbies include drawing and painting, knitting, music and dog-walking. She says, “I often
get asked who is my favourite architect. If I had to pick, I’d probably say either Julia Morgan or
Giles Gilbert-Scott. But then again, I named my dog Lutyens, after the designer of the Cenotaph.
So take your pick!”
