GWEN REES
Head of Modern Languages

Gwen Rees was born and brought up in Wales. Her bilingual background and early exposure to foreign travel fostered a love of languages which has grown and diversified ever since. Having completed a BA (Hons) in French and German at Cardiff University, her subsequent qualifications have included a Diploma in Spanish from the Open University. She remains passionate about her field, spending much of her leisure time in pursuit of languages and travel. She also enjoys the cinema, the theatre and concerts.
A qualified and experienced teacher, Gwen was Head of Department at a Welsh-medium secondary school for many years. She was responsible for teaching several foreign-language courses, including GCSE and ‘A’ Level. In this role, she also organized a number of exchange visits and educational trips. Gwen is keen to share her interest in other cultures, while her clear and structured approach enables students to understand the language and to apply their knowledge in practical contexts.
