Students will study Pat Barker’s bestseller which considers the position of women in the Ancient Greek World. The plot focuses around Briseis, a Queen, captured during the Trojan War. Her life now is destined to be as a ‘bed-warmer- for the hero Achilles. The novel is a spin on one of the world’s oldest stories, The Trojan War. (Students should purchase a copy of the novel published by Penguin and will have alternate weeks for reading and study)
